Announcement: OEA Fall Semester Operations

OEA FALL SEMESTER OPERATIONS

The Office of Education Abroad will be open for the Fall 2020 semester, with staff working virtually during our regular business hours: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Beginning October 1, the OEA will have limited In Person Office Hours for specific services. However, to maximize social distancing, most operations for the office will remain virtual for the remainder of the semester. Please review the information below to determine if you need to visit the office in person. Note that if you visit our office, masks are required in both the CHHS building and to enter the OEA office.

The OEA phone line (704-687-7747) will be monitored during our normal business hours but will be open to callers during In Person Services Hours listed below. Callers contacting our office outside of in person hours are highly encouraged to leave a voicemail with their first and last name, phone number, email address, and a brief message describing their inquiry. Calls will be returned during normal business hours as soon as possible.

General Inquiries

Completing Study Abroad 101 is the first step for UNC Charlotte students to learn more about how to make study abroad a reality. This virtual introduction covers several topics, including program considerations, academic credit, money matters, how to search for programs and more. Many of your questions about study abroad at UNC Charlotte will be answered by completing SA 101. After students have completed SA 101, they will then be eligible to schedule a virtual appointment with an advisor in the Office of Education Abroad to discuss opportunities. Advisors will also be able to answer questions that were not addressed in SA 101.

Aside from completing Study Abroad 101, students are encouraged to contact us at edabroad@uncc.edu with any general inquiries.

Student Virtual Advising

Advisor Appointments

The OEA will be conducting student advising virtually for the duration of the fall semester. This is to protect the health and safety of both the student and OEA staff. After completing Study Abroad 101 (required), students can then complete the virtual advising appointment request here.

Drop In Hours

Drop-in hours, for students who have already met with an OEA advisor, will also be conducted virtually. Drop-in hours are as follows:

Days Time
Mondays 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Thursdays 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Following these instructions to meet with an advisor during Drop In Hours:
1. Students must first complete this form.
2. Once submitted and reviewed, an advisor will email a Zoom link directly to the student to connect virtually.
3. After students receive the link via email and connect to the call, they will enter a virtual Waiting Room.
4. The advisor will admit you into the call once they are available to meet with you.

NOTEStudents will need to monitor their email closely after submitting the form. Drop In meetings are first come, first serve. An advisor may not immediately contact with you the call information once the form is submitted if they are currently meeting with a student.

If you have not yet met with an advisor and attempt to sign in for drop in, you will receive an email on how to schedule an initial appointment with an advisor.

Document Submission

Where possible, any documents needing to be submitted to the OEA should be done so virtually. Documents can be scanned or downloaded and sent to edabroad@.uncc.edu or the appropriate OEA staff member to submit.  Please note what the document is in the body of the email.

If necessary, you may also mail documents to our office. Our mailing address is as follows:
